@konstruct very good picture for arguing against any curb. Why is it there? Why don't we mix all types of traffic in areas like these and limit speed to 5km/h?

@Jhelberg Curbs are there because car drivers would park on any pedestrian walkway if there wasn't a high obstacle @konstruct

@energisch_ @konstruct that's a symptom. The reason is we let them misbehave.

Sadly, to be effective, this obstacle needs to be c200mm.

            Yes to both:
When we design für disabilities we make things better for everyone. And alt text is good for everyone.
            But!
I'd like to curb the street instead, so that pedestrians could cross on their level. It would make foot ways smoother and slow down the traffic on the street.

@konstruct It would be good if they could get the curb low enough so that my powered wheelchair could easily get up it.

If cities were made for people not for cars we'd curb the street upwards pedestrians, weelchair users and all kind of people could cross the street on their level.

@Jhelberg So true! If they were hauled away, had to pick up their cars from a station with high fines, they would learn! But sadly, in Germany this is not wanted. Politics and too often society has car-brains. All others don't count. Not ppl in wheelchairs, no children in buggies, no bicyclists, no elderlies on foot... only car drivers are heard and they complain loudly. @konstruct

@konstruct But one of the things I kept thinking-about was the curb-cut analogy... and the other thing I resisted posting was "When you worry people will ask you to widen your aisles for wheelchair users so you complain that curb-cuts are just gonna let drunk drivers up onto the sidewalk easier..."

@epilonious drunk drivers are getting on the curb, cut or not, the same is with AI. The real way to protect your art is to poison AI with nightshade
