An ocean scientist I know lost her federal government job this week. Canada should be scooping up American scientists left and right, not firing our scientists!! She works on carbon observation in the ocean, which is, you know, really fucking important. Everyone else who works on it on the west coast also got cut
Maybe a good time to reach out to your MPs and ask how the fuck we're supposed to be a world leader or whatever if federal scientists are fired and univerities are all drowning?

Many of our scientists are complaining of severe underfunding and job losses, so we should be pressuring our representatives to step up!

Many of our scientists are complaining of severe underfunding and job losses, so we should be pressuring our representatives to step up!
@SnowyCA not just our scientists, our Universities and Colleges are not able to attract top talent wanting to leave the US because of chronic provincial underfunding (it’s awful in Ontario, not sure what it’s like elsewhere). Because education is a provincial responsibility, the Feds can’t just directly take over funding post-secondary institutions without provincial consent. So, write to your MPPs/MLAs as well as to the Feds. @sundogplanets
