    @sabik @rnd I don't get how SI = metric system.

    shouldn't it be MS? *M*etric *S*ystem.

      the "ph-" and "ph+" content warnings are for negative and positive information about one's physical health

      these are not to be confused with the "pH-" and "pH+" tags, used to inform people as to whether one has become more acidic or basic respectively

      @rnd@toot.cat ngl the first few times I saw "ph" I went between assuming it meant "Philippines" or freaking "pH". Don't know which one confused me more.

          @rnd so if someone is struggling with acid reflux and takes some sodium bicarbonate and gets better their post would be CW with

          pH- ph- -> pH+ ph+

                @loganer @sabik as far as i know, SI (Systeme Internationale) and metric are not exactly the same system

                like, the metric unit of temperature is a degree Celsius (°C) and the SI unit is a kelvin

                              @szakib i dunno, consider the cohort of people tooting regular health-update content. like, people with autoimmune diseases, mnd, pain disorders, people accessing fedi with assistive technologies etc.. 15 characters might be negligible to you, but others might have legitimate reasons for abbreviating where possible, like letting their mutuals know using devices is currently very painful for them and sorry they wont be interacting much for a little while. not every fedi niche needs to be for you.

                                        @rnd why can't people just be bothered to type out content warnings in the first place though? Content warnings are obviously taken very serious here, so why have a barrier of entry by using abbreviations or accronyms on them?
                                        If anything in your post should be clear and easy to understand, it should definitely be the content warning

                                          @kris_of_pnictogen Argh, you're right. That's exactly the opposite of capacitance, which is why I have the two apparently entangled in my head.

                                          That joke didn't farad all well.

                                          @rnd
