        @linuxgal Interrupts und IO-Adressen per Jumper auf ISA-Karten festlegen... good old times.

        Und natürlich Master uns Slave auf den Festplatten.

          @benroyce @neverbeaten @linuxgal I thought it was IRQ5. 3 & 4 were for COM2/COM4 and COM1/COM3 respectively.

            @stuartl @benroyce @neverbeaten @linuxgal Yeah, I think you're right. Although it's so long ago it's mostly just a faint wisp of a memory.

            I also remember making a cable to connect a 23 pin Amiga monitor to a 15 pin PC VGA plug. It worked too! (We had all the cable-making equipment where I worked.)

                      @linuxgal master/slave....

                      30+ years ago for RAID with SCSI drives not only had you to set the IDs manually but depending on the server/controller/number of drives you had to tell the SCSI controller to spin up the drives one by one as the surge in current would overload the power supply.

                                  @closeted_unionist You had to physically short the jumpers so your computer knew whether to make the hard drive the primary (master) or secondary (slave) drive. That way you could have a C drive and D drive, with Windows booting from C.
