@lexinova @leanderlindahl @hennavirkkunen Multiple reputable news sources (including Die Zeit) picked it up from DPA, which appears to be the German equivalent of the US Associated Press. The DPA say they were told this directly by the EU Commission. Here's a link to Die Zeit's article:

@leanderlindahl For God's sake, create some kind of law that prevents European leaders from using American networks (Facebook, twitter, Instagram, blue sky, ...). This is madness.

And one more thing. Don't use any server. Create your own server. A European server just for European leaders.

What I'd do on my first day in office as head of the Directorate-General for Communication is to remove all free advertising with logos and links for X. The EU is not an ad network and it's not the job of the commission to drive traffic, engagement and revenue to these hostile foreign actors and feed the monster.

@dalcacer @lexinova yes, but surely a commissioner wouldn't put their bio under the label "Patreon". This is too weird with the wrong domain and and bio page labeled Patreon. I'm glad @lexinova had me add the notice of caution until confirmed.

@dalcacer @lexinova yes that's why its weird. I was too enthusiastic. and the time of account creation was consistent with ADP reporting.

But if it was official it would be on ec.social-network.europa.eu. And if she was just "having a look" she could have called herself anything. No need for the official imagery.

And heise reported that the exact same post was posted on X (sic) the previous day. So not one piece of original content and the wrong domain
