@johnnyvibrant Yes and the page turned over before you could write the details down and you had to sit through the other 400 pages before that one came back again!

The first internet advert was, if I remember correctly, a US lawyers firm. They got serious stick about it. And here we are, running PiHole and uBlock Origin to keep the ads away.

I remember when Google came along and made Magellan, LookSmart, AltaVista and Yahoo redundant almost overnight. I used Dogpile to submit the same search string to multiple databases simultaneously, then you could continue with the one that looked most promising.
And Google was just a page with a search box. Nothing else. -

@TheLancashireman @geospacedman @kibcol1049 I think the live orchestra is rather a significant upgrade in fidelity compared to a MP3.
Not very portable though.

I remember when the Web was new. I remember hoping that it wouldn't take off, because I had to pay for dialup by the minute, whereas, before the Web, I could just log in, collect email and news, send my messages and hang up again, all within a minute or so. Much cheaper!
