Our Mastodon experience is what we make it. With the setting available to us we can tailor our experience to what we want it to be. That's what makes it the perfect SM for me. -

working great! it's awesome to share interests with people on the fediverse. it really feels like home.
left twitter ages ago and never found anything else that stuck. just restarted my instance recently, and i'm really enjoying it

@LianaBrooks Yes and yes. I have two fediverse accounts and no other social media. However, I do follow some bluesky people using the fediverse bridge.

Yes and sorta. Social media is playing a smaller role for me now than in the past.

@LianaBrooks yes and of course. there is zero corporate toxicity, it is pure human activity. so it is impossible not to enjoy.

You do however have to curate the accounts you follow and choose hashtags to follow. There is no algorithm on the #fediverse, you are the algorithm.
Reply to posts and boost posts by others that you find interesting and find relevant for other people who follow you. That is how you can make it work for yourself and others.

@LianaBrooks@mastodon.online I am, and it's been working wonderfully for me. You could definitely feel the genuine Human part of the interactions around here, it feels like home.

@LianaBrooks@mastodon.online I used Mastodon as my primary social media for almost a year, only have recently moved to Sharkey instead but it was amazing. The system is pretty simple and does have some limitations but all around if you are coming from a microblogging background via Twitter or another social similar to that it should have most of what you want.
