pros:
- look and feel and most functionality like discord, you know discord, you know stoat, no learning curve.
- worked fine for around 8 casual #gamers playing together
- there is a migration tool to migrate your discord server: https://github.com/rambros3d/discord-terminator

cons:
- the linux client is there but there is no packaged install
- the web client lacks screen streaming and video chat
