'Which' are warning about an AI voice-cloning survey scam. It starts with an unexpected call from a fraudster who asks if you'd like to participate in a non-existent 'lifestyle survey'. When you answer the questions, they are used to create AI-generated voice clones, used to set up direct debits and payments without your knowledge. Criminals are using AI to deceive victims and trick legitimate systems into processing fraudulent payments.
Any unexpected call should be treated with caution. -

@TomGrant91 Yes, I summarised it for the benefit of those that aren't aware. I prefer that method as some people don't open links. They're just the sort of people who may fall for this scam.

️@kibcol1049 I like to be aware too, also I listen to the one show on wednesdays with Nicky from watchdog. Always interesting to hear what's going on. When it used to be on, I also watched scam interceptres and good paneramas about scams, but sometimes about interesting issues like potholes. well, while I'm here, might as well say my other interests. I also like police intercepters, trafic cops, shoplifters caught red handed, and crime squad I think it's called on one of the sky channels, it's all about all kinds of crime ad fraud like dating, ATM theiving, how the drug dens are made and it's more detailed. Oh I forgot one, all the ones about extreme landlord tenants. I find those interesting even if the programs are pre-recorded. But it's nice having something new with the scams to listen to. Then I can hear the scams happen in action.

I knew all those banks trying to get us signed up with those “my voice is my password” services were dangerous… -

@payown @kibcol1049 I know, I try not to do so but when you're expecting a call that's when it makes me nuts because sometimes for instance doctor's offices are notorious for their calls not coming from their main number. The whole thing is crazy making. It's sad it must be this way.
