I dunno who needs to hear this today, but: “don’t look away” is metaphorical.

@Athena As someone who can't help but take things literally at first before metaphorically (as an autistic person), I am one of the ones who needed to hear this. Thank you.

@Athena I'm sorry, but given the noise, the only way to really know what's happening is to look at the videos. And then, in your mind's eye, don't look away. Because your yearning for a decent life will make it hard to see. So much to see. So ugly.

@Qbitzerre @Athena This is a chain of trust issue. I can't/won't verify everything myself. But there are people I trust, and when they verify something I trust their conclusion.

@Qbitzerre @Athena We do this all the time. I know very few people that studied medicine, but I have selected someone that did and that I trust to treat me when I'm ill.

@Karelt @Athena point taken. And given the state of AI, video ain't the final arbiter of truth - and perhaps it never was anyway. Still, for me, seeing it with my own lying eyes provides a certain corroboration that validates my revulsion. With precision. It's like there are things I don't want to see but must for my sanity.
