“Is there a technology that the left is excited about?!?”

@torf yeah the guillotine fetish is one of the examples of far-right morality popping up on the left. I'd like to see less of that but there's no getting away from some things, I guess.
@maikel @thomasfuchs@alter_kaker the blocking button does exist

@maikel @thomasfuchs@torf (specifically, washing away degeneracy/evil/the parasites in blood is a core fascist idea, but that's exactly how the guillotine is portrayed on the left. Theoretically the difference is in who gets targeted, but that distinction wears pretty thin sometimes and with some tendencies)

@maikel you're welcome to block me, friend, but I've been a leftist or leftist adjacent for more than twenty years, so I permit myself to express the odd unpopular opinion, in the spirit of critical support @torf @thomasfuchs

@alter_kaker I'm fine with you here, as far as you can manage my guillotine fetish. If not, then seriously block me, I'm too angry with billionaires to mind my language. I won't hold it against you.

@thomasfuchs Someone in the replies must surely have mentioned ActivityPub yet, but I didn't find it.
@PaulaToThePeople @thomasfuchs I specifically omitted it from my list, even though it's true.
Because more people on the left need to get excited about it.

@thomasfuchs the first three for sure. #4 useful to half the population, and #5 I don't believe in the death penalty...as tempting as it may be, especially for a trial of Trump or Musk or Thiel.
@hfinyow @thomasfuchs What we need is a metaphorical corporate guillotine. Nobody dies, but business is absolutely not allowed to carry on as usual.

@maikel language is fine, even if I don't like it. So long as you don't REALLY think that guillotines are going to solve our problems. I'm worried sometimes that parts of the left use this language to express their feelings, but then it winds up being a serious thing as people get used to it. That would be bad for the left and for the world. @torf @thomasfuchs

@alter_kaker if surgical violence of billionaires was possible (that is: without it degrading into a carnage of people killing other people) then I'd be happy with it, I'm not gonna lie.
But that's not feasible, so, I'm happy with murder being illegal and the guillotine being a figure of speech of our collective level of anger.
Thank you for understanding

@maikel heh, I'm more sadistic than that. Under Communism, we should make all the former billionaires spend the rest of their days in customer service

@alter_kaker hahahaha. I approve. Btw they shouldn't get toilet breaks.

@enby_of_the_apocalypse @thomasfuchs it's not about fetishising the apparatus. It's an Eat the Rich thing. Chop off their heads.
Redistribute their wealth.
Revolution.The tool doesn't matter.
@noodlemaz @thomasfuchs the tool does matter. If you try to do revolution using authoritarian means, you’ll just replace the rich with a new elite, that will chop off the heads of everyone who might stop them.
