As I grow older such feats of retrospection seem all the more astounding. 48 years later? I know almost nothing about the guy I was just 20 years ago. I could not help him finish anything except the one rivulet of his infinite possible futures which I am now.

Quite a few years ago I went through my (then) giant collection of shoes to make space and clear out many I hadn't worn in years. Sorting through them all - high-heels, fantastically showy - I was struck by the fact that I was an entirely different person than the woman who had bought and then traipsed about in these things.
And then of course a number of years after that discovery I identified a traumatic experience that had caused that break in my personality. What a wild ride.

@jawarajabbi I love this personal journey. I think everyone can relate on one level or another!
