Quite a phenomenal campaign ad from the Greens down in England.

Quite a phenomenal campaign ad from the Greens down in England. Strong. I firmly believe that any political party not running this same message will fail.
@LaChasseuse not as strong as it could be. I would transform this in advertising against slavery, just admitting that raising the prices of essential commodities is just another kind of slavery. Slavery. Literal slavery.

@LaChasseuse Great slogan #LetsMakeHopeNormalAgain let's make that trend

@LaChasseuse Former actor and boob hypnotist (at the time a 30 year old man) has watched too many Mamdani videos. This grifter is the best the British Left has to offer? Oh boy.
-
@LaChasseuse This is amazing! A+ efforts for running and memorizing speech, at that. How does he do it?
@darkpixel @LaChasseuse He's a former actor.

@steely_glint So is Zelensky. What's your point?

@LaChasseuse Sorry I was answering @darkpixel 's question about running and remembering his lines at the same time.

@LaChasseuse
Damn. When I (a German) watched this spot I thought it was a description of the US-American system and not a western European country with proper healthcare and laws protecting workers. Now, understanding that's a description of the UK I aß sad for the people there and can't imagine how difficult life is for poor people in the USA. How lucky am I with my _big_ problems. -

@LaChasseuse 2008? Is it an old ad campaign ?
-
If any party tailored that to run in the US, what kind of traction do you think it'd have?
My guess is, it would be laughed at and roundly ignored.
And THAT'S a damn shame.
@Sfwmson @OhWeh @LaChasseuse I disagree. Newly inaugurated NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani ran on much of that platform. He promised a rent freeze, free buses, and free childcare. He’s already gotten the childcare part done! (in his first 2 weeks…)
I believe younger candidates and younger voters are going to change the political landscape pretty much everywhere.

@LaChasseuse Such strong messaging.
So frustrating though, that regular folk risk this getting drowned out by the right-wing smear campaign. Amazing how stuff sticks to folk on the left, but the shit just seems to roll off the right. Farage's Brexit should have be the end of him, not just a bump in the road. -
And Germany is different how?
@billiglarper @LaChasseuse
In Germany IMHO:
I do not see a lot of people working two jobs. You can easily spend time with your children. Work life balancy is (still) normal for an average worker.
Of course we have environmental problems but we improved a lot over the last decades and hopefully will improve further. E.g. it"s widely possible to swim in our canals and rivers including the biggest ones.
The picture drawn in the spot is much more dystopian. -

@steely_glint My apologies. Sometimes one gets lost in the threads! @darkpixel

I really really hope so.
I'm 65 and back in the day I figured the hippie generation would change the world... But they didn't.

@Sfwmson The culture segment in the US that has historically, and also now, made statements about the grind Polanski is detailing has been musicians. Of all colours. An unfortunate aspect of the American mind, however, is to see being 'down and out' as something temporary, missing that it is in fact a feature of the economic and social structures of that country.

@Sfwmson The hippies got usurped by the disco/yuppie culture. That's really the time point when every normal person started getting poorer as money was funnelled upwards.
