Folks, if you enjoy a book or artwork or music *please* take a minute to tell the artist. It's hard enough to do *anything* during The Horrors but creating is extra hard. Your small note is HUGE in keeping people going.
Applies to everyone really.
Supporting each other right now is everything.

@susankayequinn I know you call it a four part series, but is there any prospect of a fifth?

@afewbugs no plans to do that, especially given the cohesion of the story-in-4-parts
I briefly thought about writing a short story from a minor character POV, but that likewise didn't quite come together (wasn't doing what I wanted).
I've got LOTS of story ideas in the works (currently writing the novel about families and plants), like lots and lots, and I think it's better to move forward and write those — there are so few stories in this genre, we need lots more out there.

@afewbugs also the podcast/newsletter website needs updating but there are lists of other stories out there (and admittedly a chronic lack of novels which I'm trying hard to fix): https://brightgreenfutures.substack.com/

@susankayequinn If anyone did this for any project I make, I would be very happy. Saldy, most people contacting me only do so for bugs.

@mctwist people need to do better if they want the art they enjoy to continue, a culture that denigrates the arts and ritualizes complaints is pretty common in the tech industry, esp around gaming (is my understanding from my dev friends)

@susankayequinn This isn't just true to game dev, but more areas where if you do your job, no one will say anything. But as soon as something goes wrong, even if it isn't their fault, people will blame them.

@mctwist that is a pretty general rule! Our capitalistic culture reduces everyone to drones who are supposed to serve us and instantly provide whatever we need. We need to really push back on that culture... it's bad for everyone for all kinds of reasons.
But I see it show up a lot on in the arts, where people want everything instantly for free and don't understand (or care) that art takes a lot of creative labor to make.
(btw fuck AI)

@susankayequinn @glassbottommeg I love your idea. Fantastic advise. Great to get a compliment about art, but also just as rewarding to give the compliment. It can open the gates to conversation. Super cute meme too!
