Well that was fun while it lasted.
Incidentally, anyone looking for an expert in accessibility with over ten years of experience working for or with Meta, Google, and other such companies?
Asking for a, um, friend.
@prism I'm sorry to hear this, most importantly for you, but also for blind people. I was commenting in a meeting with Meta just a couple of weeks ago how much people appreciated your willingness to engage and take feedback from platforms like this. It was refreshing and very much appreciated. I hope someone snaps you us.

@prism Oh that really sucks. You were a good internal ally to have.

@JonathanMosen That is very kind. Thank you so much!
I don't think they will find anyone to replace me, frankly. Partly as I am very skilled, but also I expect they will just backfill my position and reserve the headcount for a more pressing need. Its what they usually do in this situation.
Which sucks. Very few blind people left at Meta these days. The entireity of WhatsApp accessibility now rests on the shoulders of one H1B worker. I feel bad for her, TBH. I suspect people won't read the feedback anymore, which will make it a lot harder to affect change. But oh well, no longer my problem.

@sapphireangel Me too! LOL

@prism It's tough out there for many industries right now. I was apart of a lay off last year, and I'm worried it could happen again this year... I work in the human service field! Not good at all. Every day in Mass I see an announcement of another company laying off people.

@prism So sorry to hear about this. I do not have the full context, but I know for a fact that it will not be easy for them to replace you even if they cared. Hope things work out and thanks for everything you have done for the community at Meta and otherwise.

@prism @JonathanMosen Maybe you can go over to Telegram and get them to fix a few issues.

@hallen @JonathanMosen I wouldn't work for telegram. Signal would be pretty sweet though! If I got to choose. Which, I don't.

@prism @hallen @JonathanMosen so does this mean the meta glasses will soon become useless to us?

@edenGD02 @hallen @JonathanMosen I can't predict the future and I had very little to do with the glasses. What happened to me in WhatsApp Ops doesn't really relate to what's happening in Reality Labs, except in so far as the company-wide attrition that comes from choosing to no longer hire from a diverse slate of candidates.

@prism I'm sorry to hear that! Wishing you the speedy find of a new job where you can make a difference. This is really sad news for blind people.
