UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is in talks with Canada and Australia in an effort to muster support for a potential international ban on social media X. It comes after the platform’s integrated AI assistant, Grok, was used to generate sexualised deepfakes of women and children.

@mihamarkic @rozeboosje @eunews I believe the US has already threatened sanctions against the UK if we ban X/twitter. So while it be great to see Starmer take a principled stand, it’s understandable that he’s seeking a coalition of sorts to stand with us.

@WiteWulf @mihamarkic @eunews and that is another reason why we should target the people who put "follow us on X" links on their web pages and ask them to close their X accounts and remove those links. They can threaten "sanctions" against the UK and other state actors and scream blue murder about "freedom of speech" over bans, but they won't have a leg to stand on when accounts use that freedom to voluntarily close their accounts and disassociate themselves from the platform.
