@jon I hate to be Bobby bummer, and I'm sure everyone is going to flame me, but it is absolutely wrong to disturbed any bird to "get the shot." The only reason to ever approach an owl's burrow would be to plant a small flag nearby to warn people--and tractors (burrowing owls love living along the edges of ag fields)--to steer clear.
