1/WTF people, just as a most basic principle of being an #Ally - when people are xyz culture/ethnicity or whatever and you are not - do not explain their culture, ethnicity, history or anything to them.

WTF people, just as a most basic principle of being an #Ally - when people are xyz culture/ethnicity or whatever and you are not - do not explain their culture, ethnicity, history or anything to them.I've seen a few examples in recent comments that really boggle the mind. These are racist aggressions, very unhelpful.
No one has the bandwidth to school one by one every example of racist nonsense that comes along, maybe an ally can take that labor when they see it.

#Native #Indigenous #BIPOC@Yehuda I'll try to grab as it happens. And acknowledge if I unconsciously do it.

I'm sometimes not online, so other allies might have to jump in, too. Even if only to tag me in.

#Native #Indigenous #BIPOC@Yehuda appreciate the grace you give when you let us know nonetheless.

Even if you think they are wrong. Hey, we all grow, I am definitely not the person I was even a year ago; hopefully I'm continually learning. We're all #Allies to someone... or hopefully.I can easily critique my own viewpoints and knowledge about other cultures/ethnicities over time. I know my #Mvskoke and #Jewish cultures/histories to a degree likely beyond others, and neither of those are monolithic, but these are internal discussions, not for others.

Even within #Indigenous people, in North & South America alone there are thousands of Indigenous cultures all with their own histories & practices. There are no super-Indigenous people. For example I have pretty strong opinions on #Native culture particularly #Mvskoke & nearby similar tribes but even though I have a smidgen of Mexican Indigenous in me, a lot of what I know doesn't necessarily apply to Indigenous people in Mexico, Central/South America. I have learned to defer to them.
