If the entire #economy and #financial infrastructure collapses, people holding paper gold will likely lose their #investment or find it inaccessible.
Personally, I like investments with continuous guaranteed value. Like #solar panels. The "return" on my solar arrays is absolutely insane since 2017.

@Lydie It's value will fall with uncertainty, but it'll probably still be worth something. People will be betting on either a recovery or that whatever government does come into power will honor the previous government's tender at least to some degree. The actual paper is a receipt the bank can't decide to "lose".
The longer it goes on for though, the more worthless that paper will be and people will trade in other things if total collapse is perpetual.
How I'd bet on it going down anyway.
