Ok, neurodivergent friends, does having to sit/stand upright in public impact your energy calculation for, say, a night out with friends?

When I am tired, I tend to melt into a puddle, & it's kind of stressful knowing that if I'm out at a restaurant, I'm going to have to continue to sit properly & upright no matter how tired I get.
Is this just me?
@artemis Yes.

@artemis It is definitely not just you.

@artemis no, it is not just you. And thinking I would be there long enough to need to puddle (your words are good!) Would be optimistic.
I smoke, so I walk away as often as I need to. It is oddly like getting oxygen. When I quit smoking.... I imagine I still 'will'.

@artemis i just don't do it, but it would drain me.

@artemis It doesn't figure into the calculus for me. I've kind of learned to suppress those body signals so other factors are far more important for determining whether I have the energy to go somewhere.

@artemis Bigger issue is how long I'll need to sit period. If I can be up and moving I can deal with just about anything.

i definitely have some stuff around posture. i try to sit/stand upright as much as possible, public or not.if i slouch too much i end up feeling sore, although keeping good posture is also taxing
always had issues with muscle tension, which relates to this

Absolutely. I'm not great at straight up, both feet on the floor on a good day.I used to be on my feet at restaurants for 8 hours a day without much issue, but the two days a year I had to stand, observed, behind a buffet and not look miserable or 'unprofessional' were the most exhausting days I ever experienced.

@artemis As a very introverted mostly-neurotypical: I try not to go out if I feel I'm going to get tired before implicit social rules say it is okay to leave. When I'm out, I want to be alert and able to expend energy and be my best self among my friends. When I feel myself getting tired, I leave as quickly as possible, because my ability to be agreeable and socially pleasant will quickly deteriorate.
This requires some planning. If I slept badly the previous night, I try to fit a nap into my day before going out. Worst case, I cancel. Real friends who know me well understand this, and I'm blessed to have them.
