@syhr Yes Hopniss is physically hosted the US! Totally understand if someone doesn't want to use it on that basis.
We choose to host all our stuff in the US, despite the legal and privacy downsides, because it's where all the coop members are physically located. And we prefer to be forced to contend with the reality of the place that we live and its constraints.
If you have questions about running a public SearXNG server, hit us up! It's non-trivial
