Trying out the fediverse for the first time today.

@ati1 the map has US and Canada. It could take points from anywhere, I've just been adding stuff that I know right now and promoting in groups for US cycling routes.

@evan this sounds really cool! I need to wrap my head around how ActivityPub works, so that I could more meaningfully contribute, but I'm definitely interested in joining.

@spencexyz @kaleb I think other people have pointed you to wanderer.to already. But I think a lot of the campground info would be much more useful in @openstreetmap. But maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to do with your platform.

@haraldkliems @kaleb @openstreetmap the platform started out just POIs on a map. I found it hard to use open street maps to view the data I wanted about the campgrounds. In the future, I'd like to have the platform sync with OSM so people can see the data in other places.

right now I'm exploring other functionality for the site similar to things that https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/ has. But modernized with new functionality that I would like to have.

@spencexyz A reasonable departure strategy for those still with many followers on X is to copy posts made primarily on preferred platform there, not interact with responses on X, and place ID and preferred platform of interaction onto the X profile to encourage follower migration.
