This photo of yesterday's Llangollen breach shows the clay-lined canal bottom (top-left corner). The earth embankment below and to one side is completely washed away into the field at right. Through the big tree you see millions of liters of canal water.

Several boats—people's homes—are caught up in this breach.

This is the 4th major breach in 1½ years, 3 in Canal & River Trust canals, the other Bridgewater.
