The owner of our accommodation told us not to continue on the hiking path, but to stay on the road because of a landslide...
Soon after we left the village behind us, we saw the entrance of that hiking path, that we were told not to take. The path was not blocked, or had a warning sign. But, to be on the safe side, we kept walking on the road, and we were happy we did so!

To help you imagine the situation: the hiking path was a really super thin single trail on one side of a wild river, while the gravel road, we walked on, was on the other side of this river. It was super rainy, the road was muddy and very slippery - really not fun to hike!

From our side, we could visibly follow the hiking path and saw not only one landslide, but several. We saw how other hikers went in an extremely dangerous way over these slides. It's not that simple to say "it's their life." If something happens with tourists, locals would come immediately to help, and bring themselves into a dangerous situation.
Later, we met someone who had taken the dangerous path and told us that it was an adrenaline-loaded day for them, but luckilly all of them reached the village. Phew!

But, to tell you also something nice 😄, the lush green around us, the avocado and maracuja plantations, were really beautiful to look at! 💚

That afternoon, we reached the village Lucmabamba, where we asked for a room at 'Lia B&B by Freddy and Esther.' A real gem of an accommodation! Late afternoon, all rooms were full. Together with the other guests we sat in the garden, chatting and chilling (the sun was out, shining warmly) when Freddy asked us to come with him. He showed us his coffee plantation, the coca plants, banana, and other fruit trees, and explained everything about the process of coffee in a very funny way. In the end, we got a delicious cup of coffee from his own beans that we roasted all together over a fire. Just amazing!
