#Minneapolis ALERT: #ICE trying to follow white people after grocery shopping, trying to follow them to hidden migrant families.

@LukefromDC So phone manufacturers provide tracking history to ice now?
That means that both Apple and Google disclose all the location history of people?@nickapos @LukefromDC OFC, they always did!
- What else did you expect from #PRISM collaborators and corporations subject to #CloudAct?
- You don't even pay them [enough] to risk jailtime!

#Minneapolis ALERT: #ICE trying to follow white people after grocery shopping, trying to follow them to hidden migrant families.
Neighborhood groups asking people NOT to enter addresses into navigation apps, which can be monitored by ICE or simply read from a phone captured whle not locked.
@LukefromDC Is there evidence that is how they are tracking people? Have any of the claims by this person been confirmed by reliable sources? Is this a widespread phenomena or a few isolated incidents?
Are they actually tracking phones, or are they just parking outside stores and physically following people?
The latter would be incredibly impractical, due to the number of grocery stores in the city and the massive number of people visiting them on a daily basis, so I highly doubt that is the case.
The post is inconsistent; the first part implies people are being followed, but the second implies ICE is somehow using GPS apps. Which apps? The OOP doesn't say.There are many ways to track a phone; I think its far more likely they would just buy the data from data brokers or get it from phone providers, two practices law enforcement is known to use (based on my memory; I can find a citation if you want)
As such, just not using GPS apps provides a false sense of security.I remain very skeptical of the vague claims made by a random X user. I also can't find the original post on the X account allenanalysis.

So much for Tom Homan and Stephen Miller's "pulling back" from ICE operations in Minneapolis.

@huntingdon In Chump's first.term I was in at least two protests at Stephen Miller's house. I was in DC at the time and so was his.dumbass self

@licho That's the mission!

@LukefromDC Is Open Street Map a viable navigation alternative?

@LukefromDC Fuck ICE. But like, grocery stores have white people going in & out of them all day. They are just randomly following a few… grocery shoppers?
This doesn’t really make sense.
-
@Arapalla Obviously this is not a possible solo mission. I have found that for presumably autistic reasons I am not effective as an organizer. Thus I am not in control. I do what I can but I expect years of tough figbting before this is over.
Watch both the degree of voter suppression (e.g ICE at polling places) and Trump's response to the otherwise expectes GOP defeat in November. If Trump responds to the Dems taking Congress by trying to rule by decree (as in "executive order) entirely and in defiance of Congress, expect a lot more people to start fighting. Same if he manages to block the count or toss out unfavorable results.
-
@LukefromDC Is Open Street Map a viable navigation alternative?
@sleepingexplorer @LukefromDC It's a database rather than an application. But the data is widely used by offline navigators like Comaps.
But honestly, if you are involved in this sort of activity you owe it to those you are assisting to memorise such information.

@renwillis They might be tracking specific cars but I have not received any detailed intel on that question. Remember.that cops of any kind can start with names and get car tags, and get names from things like Facebook or Google. Cars seen near too many protests especially if Flock cameras or anyone else's tag readers are in use are another possible risk.

@LukefromDC Is Open Street Map a viable navigation alternative?
@sleepingexplorer Yes it is and the Osmand frontend works offline wirh predownloaded maps. It is NOT safe however to type addresses inro a phone for this, not even into a text editor. If you are ambushed at a stoplight it's a lot faster and easier to stuff a paper map in your mouth than to reliably lock a phone. Remember too some folks will have weak passphrases or phones "backed up" to Google or Apple.
Please do not type the address of any migrant hiding from ICE into any electronic device while in a car that can be ambushed by cops, and do not take your phone outside your house without keeping it locked with no biometrics if you are forced to rely on electonics to transmit or receive grocery delivery locations.

@ryanprior
ICE has followed people delivering groceries to immigrant families. They have also regularly waited outside grocery stores.
No they're probably not following random white people just in case they're delivering groceries to immigrants.
Therefore, yes they're probably using tracking and surveillance resources at their disposal target people they think are delivering groceries to immigrants to intimate them and target the immigrants. Some of that requires a warrant, some only a subpoena and a shitty company unwilling to push back, some requires neither and is readily available to them such as software to access the same location data companies can just buy.People delivering groceries for immigrants should:
-Be aware ICE could end up following you and have a plan for if they do
-Be in touch with local organized networks or organizations about infosec and opsec best practices
-Do what they can to leave less electronic trail about what they're up to

@iampytest1 Someone else on the ground reports this has been going on a couple weeks. My GUESS is they wait at grocery stores for specifc cars to appear
