The real Trump whisperer is of course not Rutte but Putin.
As Timothy Snyder says:
“It is worth asking whether [owning Greenland] was a Russian idea.”

@AliceStollmeyer The Venezuela war, too: https://mastodon.circle.lt/@dmitry/115867345241149937
Every Trump decision makes better sense once you start asking yourself "how does Putin benefit?"

@AliceStollmeyer Back in the 1990s, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone had a bit of a professional rivalry going on. Schwarzenegger had done a couple really successful comedies, while Stallone's attempts fell flat.
Schwarzenegger looked at "Stop or My Mom Will Shoot" and immediately dismissed it as bad, but he pretended to be interested in it to trick Stallone into signing up for it.
Maybe Putin told Trump he "wanted" Greenland ...

Could be, since Putin has made a fetish of knowing what Trump does with anything he owns: destroy it.

It certainly plays right along with Dugin's plan. Prolly just a koinkidink though...

@AliceStollmeyer If not directly a Russian idea, certainly a Russian-inspired idea.
You see, Russia is not really a country as much as it is a political ideology of a certain type of empire…

@AliceStollmeyer Absolutely, I'd say it was cooked up at the last peace summit where Putin gave his word that he would sweep in and make like he was invading the place. Hence Trump's "We have to protect it from Russia.... I said WE HAVE TO PROTECT IT FROM RUSSIA"as if he was hoping for some kind of response. Greenland is a pawn in some land exchange plan dreamt up by the crazies and they thought Putin would facilitate it.
