People spend billions of dollars on advertising, normalization, and bullying to try to convince you that hegemony, patriarchy, and oppression are the natural order of things and that we would always ultimately end up here.

If there were truly no other options for how to live as a society, would they need to expend so much effort?

@shantini notice that their focus is primarily dog whistle aimed at young, uneducated men. Older men, we don't fall for it as easily.

@shantini With consensus-based decision-making, things are done "horizontally" rather than "vertically" as David Graeber put it. There is no hierarchy where some people are "above" others so no one can give orders to anyone. That is the end of ideology, "right v. left", and "liberal v. conservative." All that goes out the window when people get together to solve a problem and they all have to agree on how to do it. We do anarchy every day and don't even think about it. It is how humans of all kinds lived for hundreds of thousands of years. But anarchy scares those who want to push other people, especially women, around. With anarchy, they couldn't do that anymore.
