There has been a very interesting debate in the replies to this post, where I applaud that George Conway is now running for the Democrats.

Conway is a former Republican, and I was looking at this from a purely strategic perspective, where a strong anti-Trump choice like Conway is an asset. But as many have pointed out, it can also be bad politically, if Conway replaces a long time Democrat just because he is a great tv personality, as that shifts politics to the right.

https://mastodon.social/@randahl/115870717550235870@randahl Anytime I see Conway, I immediately associate whatever program features him with low information, sensationalism, false hope, and all-around tabloid-level analysis.
He exists to represent the least meaningful political opposition possible, catering to the least inspiring personalities imaginable, and consumed by the least motivated electorate available.
In other words, he perfectly represents our ruling class.

https://mastodon.social/@randahl/115870717550235870Right now we don't have the luxury of purity politics. We need fighters. George seems like he is ready to bring the heat. Would welcome any Democrat who puts together a campaign ad like that. Push, pull or get out of the way.
