    I'm siding with #Sweden here

    I'm no #curling expert but the crux of the matter seems to be you can't touch the curling stone after you release the handle, because you can nudge it in an unfair way. And the Canadian curler did touch it after releasing it

      @Cedara

      apparently the swedish team did appeal to the judges

      and apparently neither the touching of the stone, nor the "fuck off" was addressed by the judges

      i don't have any details as to why/ specific context/ etc

      also apparently while the swedish team was being interviewed after the game, the offending canadian player walked by and started yelling something at them

      drama!

        @benroyce One of the few sports where the drama is literally amplified by microphones. I think the talking is phalf of the fun watching the sport. The same part of me that likes chess players who talk about the game while they play the game.

              @Cedara

              agreed

              and i think this isn't over, the drama will continue to play out

              because it garnered a lot of attention

              and because it seems pretty cut and dry rather than uncertain that this canadian curler offended against sweden

                  apparently, and don't listen to me too seriously because i'm just reading comments and i don't understand the game or the rules, but typically judges defer to the players to work things out themselves. apparently this sort of collegial relaxed and friendly attitude is *usually* a big part of the culture and the game of curling

                  didn't seem so here!

                                        I'm siding with #Sweden here

                                        I'm no #curling expert but the crux of the matter seems to be you can't touch the curling stone after you release the handle, because you can nudge it in an unfair way. And the Canadian curler did touch it after releasing it

                                        @benroyce

                                        The curling stone is on the hog line and it appears his finger touches it, so yes, that would be a rule violation.

                                        I can see these two gents exchanging gifts after the game...

                                        Marc Kennedy: Here are some Rocky Mountain oysters for you to enjoy.
                                        Oskar Eriksson: Well, thanks. Here’s some surströmming for you. Bon appétit !

                                          @benroyce - Is that the new way to score. and then bitch to the Sweden team for pointing the touching of the stone. Hmm doesn't this similarity sound like TACO
