Love this statue on a balcony of the 1904 Barrhead Court Hall, just to the south of Glasgow.

Love this statue on a balcony of the 1904 Barrhead Court Hall, just to the south of Glasgow. It depicts a town crier reading out a proclamation. While it's a bit faded, you can see the stonework has been painted to make it more life-like. It's really quite a playful statue, and unlike most other architectural sculptures in and around Glasgow.

I've had a quick look around, but I've been unable to locate a sculptor for it. In some sources, it's identified as a statue of Justice donated by Mrs Margaret Pollock Glen of Carlibar. However, this is clearly not a statue of justice. Instead, this seems to related to a relief sculpture directly over the door rather than this one on the balcony.

@thisismyglasgow That crier looks to have had a rough morning thanks to the pigeons and/or other birds...
I really like that sculpture and imagine that it gets a lot of attention from people that actually take notice of it.

@thisismyglasgow I wonder if the proclamation is made of metal and if it has something specific on it. Could it be coronation related? Edward VII?
