@Edent as you may well know, my favourite “co-op” game is “the other half plays whatever he wants, and I sit next to him on the sofa with the walkthrough open giving him arsey hints like I’m Richard O’Brien on the Crystal Maze” 😄

@jon @Edent Heavenly Bodies, also fun, 2-player co-op, not as long or as replayable as e.g. Overcooked, on the PS store. Again I played the PC version via Steam

@Edent oh I know how you work by now ;]

my faves are mostly mentioned, but would be: overcooked, heavenly bodies, human fall flat, any lego game ;]

(No, I don't have Steam. No, I don't want to play online. No, I don't want to play *against* someone. Yes, I'm playing with an adult. Yes, I have all the Lego games.)

@Edent Has anyone suggested Out of Space yet? You and your friends play the part of a cleaning crew on an alien-infested space station. Gotta push back the alien goop with buckets and mops, and restore power to the station as you go.

@Edent Jamestown is a classic vertically-scrolling shoot-'em-up in the style of Tyrian, 1942, etc.

@Edent What about Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends? I _think_ they both support local multiplayer (Legends certainly does). I had some New Super Mario Bros.-style fun with those when they came out.

@Edent Speaking of which, what about New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U? Even if you don't have hardware, those emulate pretty well these days, I think.

Ah, right, PS5. That does make things more difficult. (But I just double-checked my other recommendations, and it seems like they're all available on the platform.)

@Edent Moving Out is a lot of fun - although perhaps a bit similar to Overcooked in terms of frantic short gameplay.

(While not strictly local co-op, Blue Prince, Outer Wilds & Tunic have provided hours of entertainment when played in a group puzzley / pass the controller gameplay way here.)

@andywood @Edent Same multiple-people-enjoying-a-single-player-game potential in Talos Principle, I think.

@skylar @Edent I think these detective games could work better without the early "yes you're right" or "no you're wrong" feedback, which can be gamed when you get stuck. let the player continue to the end and then reveal how close they are to correctness
