The most dangerous moment in any democracy's existence is when the faction in power realises that if they lose the next election, they're all going to prison.

@andrewg Well. Putin hasn’t lost an election in decades, so that’s how you solve this problem…

@anotherdaniel it’s certainly *one* way of solving the problem…

@andrewg We've seen this before. There will be no consequences, no justice. The Democrats would have to be replaced by a real opposition party

@andrewg it's like the days after you leave a violent partner.

@andrewg Are we talking USA? o_O
Trump lost in 2020 and nothing happened.

Fortunately for the Republicans, the Democrats have no spine (they voted for more ICE funding).

@ocdtrekkie @andrewg 10000-1 odds that ANY of the fascists face any legal consequences. Better chance of the Browns winning the Superbowl next year. Better chance of Egypt winning the world cup. Better chance Crystal Palace winning the premiere league next year.
Unless the system is torn down and structured to serve people and not the ruling class I have no faith in the justice system -

@andrewg One could argue the USA is currently not a democracy.

@andrewg it's much more dangerous if we just lynch them all
