It is so profoundly strange to experience my country, Denmark, being threatened by The United States — especially when you think of how much Americans and Danes have in common.

We both fought fascism in World War 2, we both have a constitution which defines a liberal democracy, and in both countries the greatest threat to that liberal democracy is Donald Trump.

️@randahl hey

️@randahl well, it is another time now due to Trump. Europe must be strong or will disappear in this world of tyrans

️@randahl It’s not about nations or history. It’s organized crime.

️Not to mention Denmark responded to NATO’s Article 5 after the US was attacked on 9/11 and sent troops to Afghanistan.

️@randahl we (citizens of the US) don't get it either.

please don't remind the USA for how long Denmark fought Germany in WW2, or it will reinforce their resolution. -

️@randahl Living in the US for a few years taught me that Denmark and the US entertain vastly different worldviews.

️@randahl 95% of American people have no issues with either Denmark or Greenland.
This is strictly another case of the Trump administration being alone in promoting this idea. It's bullying:
a.) Goading: It makes US domestic opposition feel like they have no influence over public policy and are powerless.
b.) Robbery: It involves theft of minerals (latest robber-baron pet hobby) and brazen violation of sovereignty
c.) Terrorism: It introduces the threat of withdrawing the USA from NATO.

️@randahl In Denmark there is likely not a significant percentage of the population that believes chocolate milk comes from brown cows. In the US, on the other hand...

@randahl @elCelio tbf i think most Danes are ashamed of that particular part of ww2, the shortness of the fight. But when that's said, please consider: we managed to save 95% of the Danish Jews from the Holocaust, and as Randahl stated: just because our politicians waved the white flag very quickly did not mean the Nazis did not have a lot of problems with the populace sabotaging them as often as they could manage.
