EU-dwellers: do you work for public sector and are required by your employer only to use certain Big-Tech software (eg, MS Office but LibreOffice is forbidden; Edge/ Chrome but Vivaldi & Firefox are forbidden)? What's the reason given (if you've ever asked)?

@brucelawson Would it be possible to object? Something along the lines of: 'I object to the use of software that does not comply with GDPR regulations.'

@brucelawson Use whatever you want on your own time. Here you're paid to work, not waste time with discussions outside your job description.

@brucelawson In the UK, about 15 years ago (so not what you asked), I was told it was down to what our outsourced IT Support company was willing to support. This happened a lot, with schools being forced to buy iPads over much more appropriate android tablets. So much money wasted.
