#Gaming help on #Linux needed. My 5 year old Dell Pavilion 32GB RAM not sure of other specs struggles with #BaldursGate3 and I’m thinking of an external GPU.
Question 1: How much worse are they than internal GPUs?
Question 2: Will I have Linux driver issues? I run Linux Mint Zara.
Thanks in advance. Boosts welcome.
[EDIT] I got confused. As has been pointed out Pavilion is HP. I meant a Dell Latitude. I’ll come back with further specs when I can.

Please check your exact model and it's specs first. Pavilion is a HP brand, not a Dell brand. Older HP Pavilion notebooks also don't have a Thunderbold connection what is a requirement for external GPUs.

@kontrollierterWahnwitz Sorry Dell Latitude. The HP Pavilion is my sacrificial W11 machine.

@kontrollierterWahnwitz Hmmm. That Thunderbolt connector could make this a “no chance”. Will check when I get home.

@toxy@mastodon.acc.sunet.se @kontrollierterWahnwitz@sueden.social It could be possible to hook up an external GPU to an internal M.2 or Mini PCIe connector but there will be sacrifices to make
and it involves lots of tinkering I presume.
