@Em0nM4stodon Good point.

@Em0nM4stodon Another reason I am exclusively here! :3
@catsalad same here!

@Em0nM4stodon -
@zotheca @mousey thank you for saying this! The screenshots and lack of alt text were driving me crazy (I don’t follow his account but I would see the posts on Explore pretty much every day). I ended up blocking him.
Another « offense » if you wanna call it that is the fact the account (probably run by an intern) NEVER interacts with anyone, ouf

Never thought of that, but you’re absolutely right

I think virtual social networks simply have a responsibility. Anyone who just posts their screenshots and ignores people with visual impairments is making the whole thing pretty pointless.
Nowadays, there are plenty of tools you can use to write good alt text. I always run photos through Gemini.
I don't think Bluesky posts are bad at all if you understand Fedi as a platform for exchange. But please, not in this way. -
@catsalad ditto. I closed all my other social accounts and requested deletion of my data long ago. Nowadays I even block all their domains so I don't accidentally give them any traffic.
My life is better for it, and I haven't missed them for even a moment.
@alice @catsalad @Em0nM4stodon I've gone a similar route where I can. Running your own DNS so you can't even accidentally send traffic is a big one.
I'm slowly getting some of my business clients to buy into this approach. If employees want that stuff, they have personal devices for it.
A simple first step for businesses is setting upstream DNS to https://www.joindns4.eu/ to start them on their journey

@Em0nM4stodon glares at screenshots of BlueSky posts from @rbreich
@mousey
That account is the most confusing of all of them. The screen shots are often of the same BlueSky account, but with different visual settings. Dark mode, light mode, blue background, different fonts, etc.I dont understand how it's easier to take screenshots and post them than to copy text and post it. Blocked that account ages ago.

@Em0nM4stodon users are the whole asset of any social platform after all.

We have a responsibility to post (and repost) meaningful stuff. Else we're just mindless pawns in the hands of the media billionaires. You are what you promote.

@xinit @Em0nM4stodon his posts are good, informative, and he believes in factual reporting. These are great things about him, its just awkward that he posts pictures of his bsky posts and doesn't just crosspost.

@Em0nM4stodon It really disappointing me how many people refuse to leave Twitter/X regardless of how bad it becomes. I guess it proves people are willing to put up with the worse enshittification and still won't leave.

@Em0nM4stodon looking directly at Bluesky and Substack.
I used to follow some meaningful journalists, but cannot any longer because they’re on those to platforms only. They think they have to be there in order to have an audience. It’s upsetting.

@mousey @xinit @Em0nM4stodon
Engagement bait, cropped screenshots with no alt text, alternating between Dark mode and Light mode. Big "maliciously compliant intern" energy coming off his entire Fedi presence.The exact text is right there on each original skeet. It would be very little work to paste it in, or add it to the automation in whatever software is making these posts.
And he's so obviously Not On Here.

I had to block him too; I follow some people who were boosting him a lot.The exact text is right there on each original skeet. It would be very little work to paste it in, or add it to the automation in whatever software is making these posts.

Almost every one of his posts here has numerous replies about the lack of alt text, which he will never see. -

You're already on a slippery slope when you start calling what matters to you "content", that you are "producing".
Once a platform encourages you to think like that, you should seriously consider leaving it.

@Em0nM4stodon I do I promise!! My late father's every day goal was to make another person smile or uplift them, and that has grown down on me 🫂

@Em0nM4stodon @kzeta By not producing content for popular platforms, you are limiting the audience for your content.
Think about that, too.
There has to be a compromise that satisfies your needs and conscience.
