    The same international criminal network that has replaced the American government is also coming for yours. It already cleaved the UK away from Europe, to disastrous ends.

    Declaring that the United States did this to itself and so it isn't your problem is just...dumb, strategically.

    It's already working its tendrils where you live. Fight it wherever you have the ability to. Yelling at its victims for not working hard enough does not eliminate the peril you face.

      @alexwild

      Victim-blaming also sucks given that a hell of a lot of us are already putting in the work. It might not make global news, but we're participating in historically large protests across the country and resisting anti-immigrant pogroms with every legal tool at our disposal.

      Unfortunately, structural defects in our democracy (i.e., disenfranchisement of US citizens in DC and Puerto Rico, voter suppression, gerrymandering, the electoral college, and the structure and makeup of the senate), the Republican capture of all three branches of the federal government, and decades of power transfer to a strong executive have left us with few options until the next elections.

        We have to own a lot of it, unfortunately.

          @alexwild dude, there's no cabal, no international network. They're just fascists. Open, unabashed, fascists.

          You know, like the USA has always had. They're just more vocal now

            @lonelystone While true from a causal standpoint, that is not relevant when trying to calculate the most effective strategy going forward.

              @sortius That's just wrong, though. They attend conferences with Orban's people, they accept campaign help from Putin. This is well documented. They are both unabashed fascists, *and* they are part of an international network.

                @DaveMWilburn At least here in Europe, these news also reach our media, and we know about the protests, even if not all local images are shown on television (a protest needs to reach a minimum threshold).
                It is primarily the media that Trump is fighting against that keep us informed, such as The Guardian (meanwhile an own US section), AP, etc.
                And we do know about the dangers for people protesting in public, if we open our eyes.

                    @alexwild no it's not. You're looking for excuses, but the reality is, your country wanted this, 100%.

                    Meeting with people is not some fucking criminal conspiracy. They were very open about it, in fact, they bragged then wrote a fucking book.

                    This is wholly a home grown thing, so stop making this about others and blaming dictators in Europe.

                    In fact, intelligence services have been saying for years that many of these destabilisation attempts around the world have been coming from the USA
