@MostlyHarmless Motorcycles are still pretty colourful, mercifully, but the 1990s were still wild in comparison with most current models.
I'm staging my own quiet rebellion against the katzenkotze in 2026 - by buying colourful tech. My new earbuds are blue, and my rugged phone case is mostly bright orange

@MostlyHarmless neat. That and/or the decline of Cocaine use.
@Netraven @MostlyHarmless Just to clarify: you do not mean the decline in cocaine use but the decline of using cocaine?

@MostlyHarmless think this varies where you are in the world. I haven't been to france for a few years, but each time I go I always check for the lack of pastel colours in the supermarket paint dept, they go bold there

@MostlyHarmless gimme back the grand Victorians with their colorful exteriors, whimsical gingerbread trims, and turrets over the blah of today

That seems right. As a kid in the 1970s, there was a lot of yellow/orange furniture in the house. You never see a bright orange kitchen these days.. -

@MostlyHarmless I despise the popular color palette of our times. It is so unutterably BORING. I despise it with a despite to out-despise all but my despite for the current US president and his ilk.

At least in Germany the palette in the 70s was much more colourful. But yes, totally agree about today's status quo.

I sometimes forget how wild the '90s colour schemes were.
So many ADV bikes were in shades of grey/black, with a few having white as an alternative, when I was looking a few years ago.
Fortunately Moto Guzzi still had a colour palate.
