We finally got a car last month, after a year of bus and bike travel, but with the state of public transit where we live made it too difficult with the twins, who just turned two in October. It's a used car, in pretty good condition. Or so I thought...

Even though I'm employed (in this economy? Thank God), we are at the end of the rope financially. We are living paycheck to paycheck and very deeply in debt. This car repair bill is really more than we can handle right now, and I really hope that you can help me raise the money before the car just dies completely.

Please help. It's $900-$2000 for a used transmission, and $1000 for labor. I'm going to put the middle number here as a goal.

For what it's worth, I'm an immigrant and child of immigrants, and the only wealth I got from my parents is their love for me, and the love of learning they instilled in me. Insofar as I have anything at all, it goes back to those two things.
