@frida This is great, I really hope for many, MANY changes for the curreny situation!
The first ones that come to mind:
- Resources that provides public service to people should do so via open protocols;
- Hardware should never be locked from users. Software doesn't *have* to be *all* open, but hardware should since once I buy it, I own it;
- Improve IT education in schools, teaching kids something useful, also touching FOSS (e.g. how to install and customize a simple Linux distro); -

@frida Awesome initiative from the EU!
If you are thinking on what to give as feedback, here's what I wrote as food for thought. (Almost used all the 4000 chars :))

@frida
i probably should think deeper. but i put these points now ... here.europe should support independent and free platforms, not like google play and apple app store. those are too much walled gardens. also android operating system and ios are too closed, some kind of free alternative is needed.
individual app developers should not force users to use closed platforms. many cases websites with code is enough. maybe operating system independent open app platform is needed.

@frida This was (kind of) my dissertation topic recently - thank you for sharing!

@frida Observation: how ironic it is to see an official EU website plagued by the cookie banner. No one has really learned anything

Hello, @gimulnautti !
Sigh.
It has been some 30 years since most people went from 640x480 to 800x600 pixel screens and those that hadn't done that yet were left with unusable content. It's also been almost that long that CSS has been with us.
I find it a sad state of affairs if you, in 2026, somehow still use software that thinks it knows how wide, in pixels, my screen is.

@frida gosh it should be so much easier.
public money, public code.
stop funding #microslop and all these other places. FOSS would be sooooo good.

Would have been very good to mention at least one of the Fediverse-named communities in the Forumverse, such as @ fediverse@lemmy.world or @ fediverse@piefed.social . But that only works if the mention is in the original, not by editing. That would increase the reach of your post very much, and to a direction that can give further perspective!
I'll copypaste your post to one of those now, linking to this post.
