@alexandrageese Great, but why are so many European politicians simply ignoring Mastodon? It doesn't take much effort to open an account. I mean, I don't expect them to leave X and Instagram, I understand most of their audience is there. But at least they could post also from here.

Now, I have learned that it has to do with federating server (or in this case…?) but the „usability“ still annoys me sometimes…

@janosch It depends on your settings. I have "Medien immer ausblenden" as default, to save mobile bandwidth. (Mostly when scrolling I don't even click on the photo.) I'm not sure that is the default setting for everyone in the beginning.

That‘s not the issue here, as in all other posts above and below, the pictures are displayed.
I think, the „posting server“ and „my server“ are not yet federated. (If I would follow this user, at least the posts from this user will be fetched from my server to display me the full post)

Ein Einwurf: Ich halte das Fediverse und „Eurosky“ nicht für gleichwertig im Bezug auf digitale Souveränität und demokratische Kontrolle. Bluesky ist nicht wirklich dezentral, zu viel Kontrolle verbleibt zentral und die Kosten für (teilweise) unabhängige Instanzen sind sehr hoch. Besser echte Unterstützung für das Fediverse, z.B. Finanzierung von besseren Onboarding-Prozessen etc.

@alexandrageese We already have a European Alternative called Fediverse! It's much more than Mastodon, this decentralized universe has places with potential for alternatives to FB (Friendica), Instagram (Pixelfed), Youtube (Peertube) and more. Perhaps von der Leyen doesn't know that @EUCommission is already here!

Still much support and work needed, but organic grow is better than exploding numbers.
