OK, so. As if the Trump regime hadn’t already dumped enough of their shit on us here in Minneapolis…there’s now talk about them sending •active duty military• to invade (“protect”) our city.
Maybe this is bluster. Maybe this is testing the waters. We have no idea how real these plans are, or if or when this would actually happen. I don’t think the regime does either. Regardless, we take this threat seriously: they’re stupid enough they just might do it. This nightmare could get worse.

@inthehands He did the same shit in Los Angeles, remember? This is what he does to try to show that he's "strong"... it's a f'n joke.

So what's the action? My most recent is that I wrote my two Democratic Senators and told them I'm changing my registration to Independent if Schumer is still Leader after the California midterms. Which means I'll be an Independent for the general, of course. Which is fine. They own a big part of how we got here as becomes more clear every day. I'm grinding every single day: protests, donations, everything I can do. It's a grind. This is going to be a grind. #uspol

The issue is getting people to agree on the location of that line. Will it take a child being murdered? A public execution carried out by the regime? Making protesting of any kind illegal? Revoking our right to free speech?
How far is too far? Can we agree?
Shit....we couldn't even get together behind Harris/Walz, and THAT was one of the most goddamn obvious choices I've ever seen be rejected.
@Oma_Trisha_F
this call, as i understand it, is not general for a random "we", this is about you personally.your personal line. and speaking words out of your mouth to other meat space humans you personally engage with in your corporeal proximity.

A •lot• of people have asked what you can do from afar to help us here in Minneapolis, and I have one thing for you. You can do it from home, from wherever you’re sitting, but it’s not necessarily easy.
First, I want to think about where your red lines are. Everything is so outrage-inducing, so outrageous, it’s kind of numbing. It becomes easy to just start letting it all happen.
So, that thing you can do to help: picture a red line for you that the regime hasn’t already crossed, so that you can have a reaction that is actually •action• if and when they cross it.

@inthehands I've long had "the lead line" which is use of live ammo on peaceful protestors

@inthehands I guess he thought he could run Venezuela so he would take over Minneapolis next. Perhaps his feelings are still hurt from losing there. But maybe someone should tell him he doesn't need troops to invade his own country.
-
Maybe the red line for you is deploying •active duty military• to Minnesota, and not just National Guard. They did that in LA with marines — briefly, just a little, just in the background, little or no confrontation — and that too got smacked down hard.
That one’s a pretty bright red line. Domestic deployment of the military is in fact the origin of the phrase “crossing the Rubicon:” when Julius Caesar led troops across the Rubicon river, leading the troops to invade his own country, that marked the beginning of civil war in Rome, and a death knell for democracy.

@inthehands what the fuck is ICE? They’re in military cosplay. They’re armed to the teeth. Does the average person see a difference?
They’re brownshirts and your entire state should declare open season on them YESTERDAY
-
Maybe it’s not work but something else in your life that stops. I don’t know…but you do. What in your life allows the country to continue to function normally? What’s a plug that you can personally pull?
Look for that. Think about it. And get yourself ready. Build up your savings now. Build up your psychological readiness now.
And then…

@inthehands for those who cannot, for good reason, stop going to work, there are other ways to disrupt daily life.
Maybe this helps:The Simple Sabotage Field Manual:
@simple_sabotageCondolences, friends.
And: courage!

We need to start contemplating this. It’s not easy to picture; if it is easy, you’re doing it wrong. But we need to do it. We need to imagine this while we still have the capacity to imagine.
We need to make sure that there is, somewhere in this authoritarian noise, a red line whose crossing actually matters because we •make• it matter.
If enough people know where their red line is, and if enough people are prepared to take action if the regime crosses it, well, •that• helps Minnesota — and the whole world.

@inthehands Lots of things to think about. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

@melioristicmarie @Oma_Trisha_F not sure how anyone can not figure renee good's killing was not an execution
this is part of what makes this a personal project – folks are so drawn down it can be hard to process an event like that and understand it with clarity.
the media're no diff (though it is part of their role to clarify in this way). that was no accident. it was execution – an easy redline – and the number of times ice etc have been recorded making ref to that killing as a lesson makes it very clear how the authorities see it

@melioristicmarie @Oma_Trisha_F i'm not a us citizen, not living in the us

@inthehands specifically, the 11th airborne out of Alaska, presumably because they're certified on cold weather
same as 10th mountain is, they're out of [upstate] NY
kinda makes you wonder if one's more politically reliable than the other unit
@lbruno @inthehands one I guess "optimistic" theory is that the one from alaska is the only one certified in arctic combat so also the only unit that could invade greenland.
so if they're picked to go to Minnesota then the other option becomes way harder. this is pretending it's 4d chess though.

@inthehands This an extremely helpful piece, thank you

@inthehands He did the same shit in Los Angeles, remember? This is what he does to try to show that he's "strong"... it's a f'n joke.
@justinf And if he does it again in Minnesota, he'll be doing it in full knowledge that it's illegal, because a court told him not to send troops into Los Angeles. It looks like the same action, but it's an escalation because it defies court orders. Things are still really bad here, though, don't worry. ICE just destroyed that young man's eye in Santa Ana, and it keeps grabbing workers right off the work site.
I don't know what my red line is, and I don't know what I can do. I'll give it thought, though. Thanks, Paul. And maybe I'll see you around town, Justin? Maybe we'll get rounded up together, lol.
