@hehemrin @randahl That’s because there is no “Secretary of War” position in the US government, and no “Department of War” for such a secretary to lead. Renaming the Department of Defense takes an act of Congress, which has not happened.

I personally think “Department of Defense” is euphemistic, and “Department of War” would be more honest, but that’s not how it’s currently named.

@Helgi @randahl Don't fall for the old "It only violates the first amendment if Congress does it" canard. Decades of judicial precedent says that plenty of other actions by government entities can be violations of the first amendment outside of "a law from Congress".
